Standing Up Strategies

Introduce the topic of bullying and assertiveness. Use vibrant colors (#FF6F61, #E94E77, #DB3A34) to capture attention. Remind students what bullying is and why standing up is important. Discuss the difference between assertiveness and aggression.

Present key assertive communication techniques such as 'I' Statements and calm body language. Explain each technique using examples relevant to a 3rd grade audience. Introduce 'The Power of Words' video as a real-life example of how words can affect feelings and the importance of kind communication.

Scenario Practice

Show scenarios where bullying might occur and ask students how they might respond assertively. Encourage interaction and questions from the students.

Review & Reflect

Summarize the strategies. Engage the students by asking them to recall one strategy they learned today to use in real-life situations.
