My Life Timeline

Past, present and future

Students will create personal timelines that include events from their past, present, and future aspirations. This hands-on activity will help them understand the concept of time and sequencing. This lesson is important as it allows students to practice sequencing events and understanding the flow of time, which are essential skills in both history and daily life.

Step 1

  • Ensure students understand the differences between these time periods by asking a few quick questions.

Step 2

Discussion

10 minutes

  • Ask students to think of one thing they did yesterday, one thing they are doing today, and one thing they might do tomorrow.
  • Write their answers on the board under columns labeled Past, Present, and Future.
  • Guide the discussion by giving examples from your own life and encouraging students to share their own examples.

Activity

20 minutes

  • Hand out the Timeline Worksheet to each student.
  • Explain how to fill out the timeline by drawing or writing about events from their past, present, and future.
  • Circulate around the classroom to assist students and provide examples as needed.
