Our Visual Rules

Introduce the concept of zones using colorful, engaging visuals. Emphasize simple images that display behavior norms and expectations.

Expected Behaviors

Show visuals for expected behaviors. Talk about being kind, raising your hand, and listening when someone is speaking. Ask the students to point to the image that shows them following these rules.

Unexpected Behaviors

Demonstrate visuals for unexpected behaviors. Use visuals that contrast with the expected ones, explaining how disruptive behaviors can affect others. Be sure to address the images clearly for nonverbal students with simple words.

Remember Our Zones

Summarize both sets of behaviors and reinforce the importance of being a good friend by following the expected behavior rules. Use this slide as a call to action to practice these behaviors in the circle time discussion.
